'Yes, I do love you': Harry Styles helps an 18-year-old come out to her mom
According to the J. Walter Thompson Innovation Group, only 48 percent of 13- to 20-year-olds identify as “exclusively heterosexual.” Possibly, it’s a sign that as a whole, we are becoming more openminded.
However, coming out to your parents as an LGBTQ teenager is still not easy. No matter how loving and accepting parents may be, there still is trepidation when it comes to revealing your true self to family members.
It is possible that coming out is a little bit easier thanks to the support of those we idolize.
Grace, an 18-year-old, was inspired to come out to her mother on the night of a Harry Styles concert; she attended 10 of his concerts this summer.

“He’s a proud supporter of the LGBTQ+ community, and he’s made a lot of fans feel comfortable and proud to be who they are, and I’m just one example of that,” Grace told Buzzfeed News.
Harry did end up seeing the sign, and he asked her if he could read it aloud. Then, the musician asked her for both her name and her mother’s name.
When he found out that her mother, Tina, was at a nearby hotel while her daughter attended the concert, he quieted down the arena and yelled, “Tina! She’s gay!”

The former One Direction member added, “Tina says she loves ya. Congratulations, I’m very happy for you.”
After the show, Grace’s mom called her to make sure everything was fine. Grace said, “I have something to show and tell you when I get back to the hotel!”
@Harry_Styles Thank you so much for creating an environment where I am proud to be who I am. Your continuous support of the LGBTQ+ has helped me come to love myself and feel safe. Thank you for tonight and I can’t wait to show Tina (my mom) this video. Love you always. pic.twitter.com/Kk5FJVYemB

Grace, who is actually bisexual, has become more comfortable with herself in the past year and had been slowly coming out to her friends.
Grace showed her mother the video of Harry Styles, and the supportive mom had the most genuine reaction.
