From Cosmopolitan

In Emilia Clarke’s new movie, Last Christmas, she plays an elf who’s trying to make it as a singer. The film opens with a younger version of her character belting out a song in a church, and then she pretty much doesn’t stop singing for the rest of the two hours. It’s cute/nauseating!

But the real question is whether Emilia, who is best known for her role as Daenerys Targaryen in that one show Game of Thrones, is actually the one doing the singing here. Like, you can’t be able to ride dragons and ALSO have a good voice, right? The universe doesn’t work that way. It’s simply not fair! We’re here to answer that question for you.

So is that really her voice?

Indeed it is! “I don’t do my own stunts but I do do my own singing,” Emilia told Entertainment Tonight earlier this year. That makes sense, because when listening to the voice that’s singing, it sounds freakishly like Emilia. If that wasn’t her, it would be an incredibly impressive use of technology.

Damn! Impressive! Was she nervous about that?

Glad you asked! She told NPR it was actually really anxiety-inducing. “Oh, it was incredibly nerve-racking, because I care so much about singing and I’m genuinely at my happiest when I am singing,” she said.

“However, doing it on camera in front of a lot of people and doing it, you know, with George’s perfect song was—every time before I sing, I just think I’m getting tonsillitis or my throat is closing up or something. So it took a lot of courage, but I got there.”

So now the only question that remains is whether we’ll be getting an Emilia Clarke musical in the future. Crossing my fingers for that right TF now.
