You Won't Believe How Quickly Cool-Girl Emily Blunt Got Ready for SAGs
It’s a good thing makeup artist Jenn Streicher has been working with Emily Blunt for eight years now.
For Sunday’s Screen Actors Guild awards, Blunt was only in town for 24 hours; her nomination, got The Girl on the Train, was a stunner to say the least. Streicher hadn’t even seen her Roberto Cavalli dress in person ahead of time.
“Emily is the easiest person to vibe with. Very easy. I love her. Everyone love her. Emily is not really – I don’t want to say she doesn’t care but she doesn’t put it under a microscope. Every event is collaborative. You just create a relationship,” says Streicher.
It helped that the entire process was a family affair. “My sister Ashley did her hair, so we could call ahead of time about the vision and the look. It makes the process so much easier. We show Emily pictures about what we’re thinking,” says Streicher.

First, Streicher prepped Blunt’s skin with Sisley’s Black Rose Precious Face Oil, followed by Sisle?a L’Intégral. She used Laura Mercier products on Blunt — including the Editorial Eye Palette Intense in Clays — and had two hours total to get her red-carpet ready. “There’s not much to talk about. We don’t really get personal when we have such limited time. We have a big project to do in two hours. Everyone is watching the time,” says Streicher.
Because the dress was very neutral, “Emily wanted a nude lip. She went in saying she wanted a nude lip and a bigger eye. It’s something different for her. She wore a lot of shadow underneath her eye. We always try to do something a little different.”
The Mercier shadows brought out colors that were in the dress, per Streicher. “We just wanted it to look modern. The hair is sleek and the face is clean with color on the lid and lower lid.”
As for Blunt, she’s the bee’s knees, pretty much: “She’s the kindest, most patient, loyal, funniest person I’ve ever met.”
