You'll Be Obsessed With These Colorful Interiors
Despite fighting off an early love for design in favor of pursuing a more “stable” career to please her parents, Noz Nozawa found herself back in the industry when she landed a job in marketing at Houzz. In 2014, she took the leap and started her own firm, where creative color and pattern have become her calling card.
“I think there is a freedom to the way I design spaces that untethers them from the pressure to be strictly beautiful,” Nozawa says. “I like to tell a client’s story with sentimental pieces or objects they’ve dreamed of having, even if they’re incongruous with the rest of the design.”
Another trademark? A dedication to sustainability, whether in sourcing materials, choosing projects, or influencing her clients’ lifestyles at large. “It 100% drives the decisions I make,” Nozawa says.

Favorite thing to collect: Beat up antique footstools, which I refinish and reupholster. I use these as step stools for my dog to get on and off furniture without having to jump. She rules the house, but has a bad back, and won’t use a stool no matter how beautiful if it isn’t cushy and upholstered – I’ve tried.
First design crush: Every mansion in Newport, Rhode Island, that they toured on that ‘90s A&E television show America’s Castles.
Current design crush: Jaime Hayon (the Swarovski carousel he designed in Austria is from another universe), Rossana Orlandi (her gallery and everything about her), and designer- sculptor-maker Eny Lee Parker.
