It’s finally spring, and if you’re looking for a sign to redecorate, this is it. Let designer Annie Selke inspire you with the latest renovation of her second midcentury home in Palm Desert, California. As part of an exclusive collaboration with Perigold, she recently transformed her three-bedroom, three-bathroom getaway located in the famed Marrakesh Country Club community.
The neighborhood is known for its distinct pink decor, courtesy of esteemed Hollywood architect John Elgin Woolf, so Selke couldn’t resist throwing more of the popular shade into the mix. “I love it; it makes me very happy,” she said in a statement about the hue.
Going for color can be a risk, especially if you’re not quite sure how to pair things together. Lucky for you, Selke already did the heavy lifting by sharing her picks—and we broke it all down for you below. Scroll to see how she made her perfectly pink place come to life.
Pretty in Pink
As far as this trendy color palette goes, Selke proves you should go all out. Lean into the bold color choice by coordinating pink chairs with a lamp and rug of the same tone. Shying away will only have a weak, less cohesive impact…so go pink, or go home.
Go Green
Then again, not everything has to be pink to still get a bold look. For a well-balanced design, Selke incorporates a complementary green color via a lush accent chair, wall art, and a striped rug. It’s a refreshing combo for this warmer season.
Neutral Appliances
To keep her vision flowing, the designer knocked down some walls and opted for an open floor plan between her kitchen and living room. This led to her investing in a new lineup of appliances that went with the light and modern aesthetic of the redesign. Think a white and gold refrigerator complete with a matching wall oven and a shiny built-in cooktop.
Up in the Air
While there were pink accents in the bathroom, neutrals also dominated the bathroom, but this doesn't mean it was boring by any means. Selke installed a floating vanity boasting plenty of storage and a suspended round mirror that'll have you doing a double take.
Metallic Details
Finally, Selke topped it all off with sleek Brizo faucets, which bring a touch of shine to the textural bathroom. You can't skip these advanced upgrades as they're the finishing details that'll make a space feel totally up-to-date.
