The Young and the Restless actor Eric Braeden, who plays Victor Newman, took to Facebook Live on Sunday to share the optimistic news that his doctors have pronounced him cancer-free.

“The reason I want to talk to you tonight is I want to tell you I’m grateful for all of your good thoughts and your prayers,” Braeden said. “It’s meant a great deal to me, and I can tell you it obviously has helped, because I had my last cystoscopy two days ago—that’s when they thread a camera into your bladder —and I’m cancer-free. They couldn’t find a damn thing. Isn’t that nice?”

Braeden went on to explain that even with the positive diagnosis, it doesn’t mean that it’s all over.

“I still need to do about three prophylactic infusions. It’s called a BCG treatment,” he explained. “That means they infuse your bladder with some stuff that apparently kills the cancer. But as of three days ago, I’m cancer-free. So, the original surgeon did a great job getting all the cancer out.”

It was a urologist at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles who diagnosed the actor when he visited him for an issue he was having urinating. He then underwent a UroLift procedure to relieve his urination issues, but when he followed that up with a surgery to remove the cancer, a biopsy revealed high-grade cancer cells, so Braeden started a six-week immunotherapy treatment.
