YouTube star Lloyd Cadena, 26, had a heart attack after testing positive for COVID-19
YouTube star Lloyd Cafe Cadena died of a heart attack just days after he tested positive for the coronavirus, according to an update from his family.
Cadena's death was first announced last Friday, but his family shared a second update on Sunday, thanking fans for their well wishes and sharing more insight into the 26-year-old's final days.
"There are simply no words to express our heartfelt thanks for the prayers and sympathy you have extended to our family during this time of loss," Cadena's family wrote on Instagram. After Cadena received a positive result, his family said they immediately isolated themselves at their home in Cavite, Philippines to prevent the potential spread of the coronavirus. At that time, Cadena's vitals were OK and he had "no complaints," according to the update.
Cadena's condition took a turn for the worse one day after he received the positive result.
"On September 4, 5am he was seen by the staff unresponsive and pale looking. As informed by the doctor, he suffered a heart attack while asleep," Cadena's family said. "He was cremated yesterday and his remains is in our house in Cavite in the meantime."
Cadena started his YouTube channel in 2011, where he shared hilarious videos about his life and pulled off fun stunts, such as giving strangers 1,000 pesos, which is the equivalent of $20, or prank calling some of his favorite YouTubers.
His bubbly personality earned him fans not just in his native Philippines, but from around the world. Cadena had more than 5.3 million YouTube subscribers when his death was announced last week and 6.8 million more on Facebook, a number that is continuing to grow as new fans discover his videos after hearing about his death.
