Did You Catch These Celeb Cameos in "The Haunting of Bly Manor?"

From Oprah Magazine

  • Netflix's The Haunting of Bly Manor premiered on Netflix on October 9.

  • The new season included familiar faces from The Haunting of Hill House like Victoria Pedretti and Oliver Jackson-Cohen. But there's also new faces like T'nia Miller and Amelia Eve.

  • Read ahead for a breakdown of the cast, and some major spoilers.

Besides the hidden ghosts you find in nearly every spooky frame, one of the best parts of Netflix's The Haunting of Bly Manor is its impressive (mostly British) cast that's made up of a host of Hollywood newcomers. Together they bring the alluring story—told by an unassuming narrator—of a young American who moves to the U.K. and becomes the nanny to two wealthy children. What comes next is a series of twists that unravels centuries of ghostly secrets—and even a couple of love stories.

Though we've seen some on the cast on other Netflix shows, including the Haunting of Hill House like Victoria Pedretti (Dani) and Kate Siegel (Viola), the horror series marks many of the cast's first major U.S. roles. Look out for one child actress who just happens to be the voice of an incredibly popular animated pig. And a cameo from The Room's Greg Sestero. Read on to learn more about Bly Manor's cast. Plus, we included their Instagrams so you can do some investigating of your own.

After Pedretti's first-ever acting gig as Nell Crain (aka The Bent Neck Lady) in The Haunting of Hill House, she returned as Dani, the closeted 1980s nanny in Bly Manor who leaves her home in America behind for a new life. She soon becomes wrapped up in a heartbreaking gothic romance with a certain mansion groundskeeper that comes with a tragic end—that we won't spoil here.

Pedretti wowed again in 2019 with her disturbing portrayal of Joe's co-hort Love Quinn in You season 2. If you haven't yet, we highly recommend you give it a watch.

Oliver Jackson-Cohen as Peter Quint

Jackson-Cohen has perfected the whole damaged, dangerous, straight white male thing, with both his role as the domineering hustler-turned possessive ghost Peter Quinn in Bly Manor and the struggling addict Luke Crain in The Haunting of Hill House. And in 2020's horror film Invisible Man, he played Elisabeth Moss's super successful (but abusive) husband.

"I used to be incredibly superstitious as a kid, and hugely fearful to the point where I didn't want to go into the attic because there were ghosts there," he told OprahMag.com. "I remember in season 1, I became convinced there was someone sitting in the end of my bed. For some reason, something switched in my brain, and now I think it's all nonsense. It's like exposure therapy. Being a part of [the show]."

T'nia Miller as Hannah Grose

Miller, who had a small role in season 2 of Netflix's Sex Education, tells OprahMag.com that she was just as surprised as us to learn the truth about the most stylish housekeeper on television, Hannah Grose. We won't spoil it here, but just know that Hannah's story takes a major turn in episode 5.

"I didn't realize that was coming," Miller says. "When I got to episode 5, I was like 'Shut the front door, what? This is new, I've never done anything like this before. This is brilliant.'"

Henry Thomas as Henry Wingrave

Thomas was in the anthology series' first season, The Haunting of Hill House, as patriarch Hugh Crain. Now, he's returned as Henry Wingrave, an uninvolved Uncle who has his own reason for avoiding Bly. Thomas is most known for his role as the young boy named Elliott in Steven Spielberg's iconic 1982 film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.

Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Miles Wingrave

According to IMDB, Ainsworth has only three other credits to his name, with his impressive turn as the unusually troubled and mature (read: possessed by a grown man) Miles Wingrave being his first major role. He told The Beat that he and fellow child actor, Amelie Bea Smith, "were the best buds" while filming Bly Manor in Vancouver.

If you have a child in your life (or if you yourself enjoy kids' cartoons) you may recognize Smith, who plays the perfectly splendid doll-loving Flora Wingrave. In February 2020, the 9-year-old made her debut as Peppa Pig, voicing the title character from the popular children's animated series. She also starred in the U.K. soap opera EastEnders from 2018-2019.

Amelia Eve as Jamie

Eve's role as the Bly Manor groundskeeper Jamie who falls for the nanny is one of her first, with her only other credit being a small role in 2017's comedy series Enterprice.

Rahul Kohli as Owen

Before Kohli was Owen, Bly Manor's personal chef, he starred in DC Comics' iZombie—another Netflix series, which premiered its fifth and finale season in August 2019. You can also catch him in seasons 2 and 5 of CW's Supergirl.

Tahirah Sharif as Rebecca Jessel

Sharif made a haunting, yet stunning impression as the beautiful nanny Rebecca Jessel who succumbed to a tragic love story. The actress is relatively new to Hollywood, but she did appear in all three delightful films in Netflix's A Christmas Prince series.

Katie Siegel as Viola

If you think you recognize Siegel from last season, then you are totally right. She played the second oldest Crain sibling, Theo, in The Haunting of Hill House. And now she's made her return as the scorned Viola, aka (spoilers ahead)...the faceless Lady in the Lake whose haunted Bly Manor for hundreds of years. Siegel also happens to be married to director Mike Flanagan and has appeared in his other horror films Hush, Oculus, and Ouija.

Carla Gugino as The Narrator

At the beginning of episode 1, we're introduced to a mysterious older woman—played by Gugino—who chooses a young couple's wedding weekend as the perfect setting for a 9-hour-long (incredibly depressing) ghost story. Of course, by the finale we learn The Narrator's true identity, and her dreary wedding tale begins to make sense. And of course you'll recognize Gugino as the possessed momma Olivia Crain from Haunting of Hill House.

As we learn in the finale, The Narrator is actually attending the wedding of a much older Flora (Burke) and her nameless husband, played by Greg Sestero, star of one of the worst/best and most iconic movies ever made, The Room. As for Burke? Twihards my recognize her as a teenage Renesmee Cullen from Twilight: Breaking Dawn - Part 2.
