Zendaya's style has been killing it at fashion week
Zendaya has turned Fashion Week into her own personal showcase, rocking the red carpet and front row in runway-worthy ensembles.
On Thursday night she took a look that was debuted just weeks ago at the Marc Jacobs FW18 show at NYFW and made it her own. She proved she could tackle menswear and the ’80s — two things she isn’t very familiar with — in an oversized color-block tuxedo. She didn’t forget the Cordobés hat.
The broad-shouldered outfit could easily swallow a slender girl with soft features like Zendaya, but her personality and pride overpowered the ensemble, creating a great balance.
This is only the most recent in a slew of stunning outfits she’s worn throughout the past month.
Two weeks ago, she attended British Vogue’s London Fashion Week party in another oversized menswear-inspired ensemble. This outfit was a lesson in layering: It started with an off-the-shoulder plunging men’s dress shirt. Next was a larger black pinstripe suit. The top layer was a black-and-white checkered coat that flowed to the floor. Her body was buried beneath all the fabric somewhere. Fatima Danielsson designed the entire outfit.
She wore her hair in a tight, high ponytail and balanced out the somewhat masculine look with chandelier earrings and a bright red lip.
The day before, she wowed in another layered look. But all eyes were on her clean cornrows. Her outfit, which she topped with a yellow tartan Burberry coat, was English-inspired. Underneath the jacket, she wore a brown-checkered blazer over a loud, yellow suit with graffiti lettering that coordinated with her shoes and hairstyle but beautifully countered the conservative nature of the coats.
And she slid into fashion month midway at the Michael Kors LFW show wearing a sporty-chic ensemble designed by Kors. It consisted of a sleeveless khaki trench worn over a cherry-red tracksuit. It was very Inspector Gadget goes to the gym. Or, as Zendaya described it, “When you got the gym at 4 but gotta investigate some s*** at 5.”
