The line at this particular Starbucks must have stretched from Gondor to Helm’s Deep, but one crafty customer put his or her time to good use.

The enthusiastic and talented “Hobbit" fan took the time to create a detailed homage to Middle Earth that has left the internet in awe.

When it comes to creativity and coffee, most people stop at coming up with giving a silly, fake name when making their Starbucks order. However, one anonymous customer took cup artistry to a whole new level, drawing a detailed recreation of the famous Middle Earth map from the Lord of the Rings series on the side of their Starbucks cup.

For some inexplicable reason, the unknown artist also decided to simply leave the original piece of artwork behind. A Starbucks barista stumbled across the discarded cup and posted pictures to their Reddit account.

The cup drawing drew all kinds of praise but also a bit of skeptical criticism from viewers who thought the posting was simply a ploy to promote the coffee chain. However, Reddit user Carpe_Natem followed up, insisting the story is true:

“I hate to disappoint you all, but I am in fact just a lowly barista who recently joined Reddit. It wasn’t my intent to promote the company (however unbelievable that may sound). I was just gob-smacked by the amount of patience (and free time) this guy had. Whoever you are, that cup was the highlight of an otherwise extremely shi**y shift!”

Whatever the story behind the drawing, it shouldn’t take away from the fact that it’s a pretty unique and cool accomplishment. Though it’s more fun to believe that there’s some mysterious artist out there leaving behind artifacts of found out for some lucky Lord of the Rings fans.
