Fashion Designer Alexander Wang Turns His Eye to Furniture

From haute couture to home furnishings, fashion designer Alexander Wang has expanded his focus from modern, chic wear-ables to a furniture collection that evokes the same feel.

Clearly a lover of art and design, Wang has made the natural leap into the world of interiors. Teaming up with Italian leather furniture creator, Poltrona Frau, he has designed 3 simple yet stunning pieces that highlight his love of clean lines and textures.

The collection includes a black leather bean bag chair, fitted with a brass base, a black shearling bean bag chair, fitted with the same base, and a bar cabinet. The cabinet is a modern cube that splits in half to reveal gold and brass shelving.

The chairs, though throwbacks to the days of bean bags, are almost futuristic in their appearance. Sleek, short and shiny, they convey a luxury that has an inherent ease and comfort about it.

The collection was developed over a period of two years, and is available for purchase February 2015.

Considering Wang’s talent, we believe (and hope!) that this is only the beginning of what will blossom into an expanding collection.
