As “Fifty Shades" fever sweeps the country this weekend, makers and crafters are hitting their workshops creating items and brainstorming new ideas, trying to capture both the excitement and controversy of the books and film.

With such a steamy topic, not everyone hits the mark and some miss the target completely. But whether you are a lover or a hater of Fifty Shades of Grey (or even if you love to hate), you are sure to find humor in these attempts to cash in on the hype.

Nothing says “make me your love slave” like baggy grey sweatpants. Sure, they might be comfy, but we’re not even sure how you meet a guy while wearing these in the first place.

Sometimes you’re not sure who the audience is for a particular item. The bear part says “I’m a cuddly playmate from your childhood!” The Christian Grey part says, “Tie me down!”

There might be a way to create a craft that appeals to both pet lovers and “50 Shades” fans. But this isn’t it. (And actually, if there are other pet-themed “50 Shades” projects out there, we’d rather not hear about them.)

At least your pooch won’t get the awful attempt at a pun embroidered on this item.
