If you haven’t jumped on the (yarnbombed) knitting bandwagon yet, there’s a cheap and easy way to get started that many people don’t know about: finger knitting and arm knitting.

Knitting has gone from quaint, grandmotherly pastime to a certifiable hot trend in recent years, of course, with needles found in the hands of Kate Moss, Kate Middleton, and other famous names.

With finger knitting and arm knitting, you don’t even need knitting needles to make your first scarf. Even better, you’ll learn the basic skills without investing a lot of time or money on supplies. All you have to track down is some yarn and a pair of scissors, and you can get knitting in as little as ten minutes. If you put your mind (and hands and arms) to it, you can complete a project in under half an hour.

Finger Knitting uses your fingers like a loom to loop the yarn into a beautiful rope that can be used to create scarves, bracelets, key ring ropes, boot cuffs, or even bag handles. An easy tutorial by Fiber Flux can be found here.

Arm knitting projects and tutorials are all over the internet. Arm knitting uses your arms like giant needles to create blankets, bags, scarves, shrugs and even wraps. Simply Maggie demonstrates the technique here.

Both of these methods offer quick and easy ways to make warm and cozy winter accessories. Need some more inspiration? Check out some of the projects pinned here.
