Fruit Figurines: Have Fun Playing With Your Food
It’s the holiday season, and while you are crazed with errands and preparations, your kids are out of school and wandering the house, looking for something to do. See where their imaginations take them when presented with a table full of fruits, candies, and cookies. Can 2 lemons equal a duck? Can a cookie become a cap? Can a piece of licorice become a scarf? See what little characters and creatures are born from their wild imaginations!
Materials:
Glue
Limes
Lemons
Oranges
Kiwis
Toothpicks
Twigs
Red licorice sticks
Peppermints
Marshmallows
Cookies
Chocolate chips
Candy canes
Candy buttons
Any other food that strikes your fancy
Some ideas are…
Duck
Stack two lemons on top of each other. Make a hat by cutting a marshmallow in half, and attach it to the “head” with a toothpick. Glue chocolate chips onto the duck’s face for eyes and wrap a piece of licorice around its neck as a scarf.
Snowman
For the body, stack 3 oranges one on top of the other and fasten them together with toothpicks. Use multicolored candy canes for arms, a cookie for a hat, and candy sugar dots for buttons.
Deer
To make a deer with antlers, stick 2 thin twigs on top of a kiwi. Glue a marshmallow to the back of the kiwi for a tail.
Note: These creatures contain food items, but don’t eat them - they’re just for show.
