Birds of Prey director Cathy Yan has denied rumours of a scrubbed “d*** pic” storyline in her film.

Yan spoke out after writer and YouTube host Grace Randolph mentioned the rumours on Twitter.

Randolph alleged that the movie underwent “massive reshoots” to take out a “d*** pics” storyline, which Yan said isn’t true.

“Excuse me, you have no idea what you’re talking about,” Yan wrote.

“It’s fascinating you would deem to try when you weren’t part of the process whatsoever.”

In a further exchange, Yan said a subplot involving the character Roman Sionis/Black Mask (played in the film by Ewan McGregor) was indeed removed, but said it was different in substance to what Randolph was suggesting.

“The original script called for an image of Roman as Michelangelo’s David. You know? Art? If that’s a d*** pic then the Louvre is full of them,” Yan wrote.

When another Twitter user asked for more specifics, Yan explained: “It was a joke to show how narcissist he is. It didn’t work — we all agreed — so we rewrote some ADR. That’s it. Absolutely no reshoots we’re devoted to this nonsense issue.”

Birds of Prey was released in January this year. It also stars Margot Robbie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Rosie Perez, Ali Wong, and Chris Messina.
