Brie Larson Begins Her ‘Captain Marvel’ Homework in New Photo
It’s been eight years since the birth of the “Marvel Cinematic Universe,” which officially commenced with 2008’s Iron Man. And yet the comic-book studio still hasn’t put out a single superhero film led by a woman. That will all change in 2019, however, when Brie Larson dons the blue, red and gold jumpsuit for her starring role in Captain Marvel. Only weeks after being officially announced as Marvel’s big-screen heroine at San Diego Comic-Con, the Oscar-winning actress is already hard at work prepping for her part.

In a new snapshot posted to her Instagram page, Larson is seen studying up on her forthcoming project by reading Kelly Sue DeConnick’s series reboot Captain Marvel Vol. 1: Higher, Further, Faster, More, all while decked out in some Captain Marvel pajamas. Larson’s photo caption reads “LARSON INDUSTRIES R&D DEPT.” — which is apparently located on a comfortable couch with cozy blankets — but her update is mum on any details regarding her upcoming movie, which will premiere after Joe and Anthony Russo’s Avengers: Infinity War. Whether Larson’s Captain Marvel will make her debut in that large-scale outing (out May 4, 2018) has been the subject of much online speculation after the Russos let slip about a possible cameo. So far, however, there’s no official word.
Captain Marvel will be written by Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Meg LeFauve (Inside Out), and should be announcing a director in the coming months. It’s currently slated for a March 8, 2019 release.
