The Breaking Bad vet plays an overprotective dad on a family trip to meet his daughter’s new boyfriend — a loud-mouthed, socially awkward Silicon Valley billionaire (Franco). Already unhappy with the relationship, Cranston as dad plans to break them up once the boyfriend reveals that he will propose to his girlfriend on Christmas Day. Also starring in Why Him? are Megan Mullally, Keegan-Michael Key, Griffin Gluck, Andrew Rannells, and Adam DeVine.

Although the dad vs. boyfriend formula is far from new, the stellar cast of comedy veterans just might make it work. Father of the Bride and Meet the Fockers were both big hits; we’ll see if Cranston can join the ranks of memorable exasperated dads like Steve Martin and Robert De Niro when Why Him? hits theaters Dec. 25.
