Celebrate 15 Years of ‘Fast and Furious’ With the Coolest Car Stunts From Each Movie
On this day in 2001, the first installment in the Fast and Furious series (simply called The Fast and the Furious) arrived in theaters. Fifteen years later, the movie seems almost quaint in the amount of focus gave to actually racing cars instead of making them vehicles of increasingly outrageous stunts and action sequences.
But as the series has continued to explode at the box office (2015’s Furious 7 has grossed more than $1 billion worldwide), the onscreen explosions have become more and more ridiculous.
In the fourth entry, 2009’s Fast & Furious, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) nimbly drives his car under a tumbling gas tanker in the split second it’s off the ground before it collides with another tanker and, you guessed it, explodes.
Sequels have included a scene where a 10-ton safe is dragged along a highway with seemingly no resistance (2011’s Fast Five) and another where a car jumps from one skyscraper into another (Furious 7).
Above, watch the coolest, craziest, most unbelievable car stunts from the first Fast to the most recent.
And check out who we think should join the successful series:
