Colin Firth's Death-Defying Role in 'Kingsman 2' Seems Assured

With Kingsman: The Secret Service turning out to be a surprise 2015 hit, it was inevitable the cast would reunite for a second round of ultra-violent espionage action. The only problem, of course, was that Harry Hart, the dapper spy played by headliner Colin Firth, died at the conclusion of the film. Nonetheless, after months of teases, we have the strongest clue yet that death won’t keep the Oscar-winning actor’s character down.

Actor Pedro Pascal has posted the above photo on Instagram that places Firth on the set of Kingsman 2: The Golden Circle. While no further details are implied by the snapshot, Pascal’s “Hide behind Harry” comment seems to put to rest any lingering questions about Firth’s participation in the sequel, which will again be directed by Matthew Vaughn. In April, a not-so-cryptic tweet from star Taron Egerton first suggested we haven’t seen the last of Firth as the mentor who molded Egerton’s roughneck kid Eggsy into an attitude-heavy secret agent in the first film.
Watch Matthew Vaughn answer your ‘Kingsman’ and ‘Kick-Ass’ questions:
The Golden Circle sends Egerton’s Eggsy to the U.S. to team up with his American counterparts after an attack on his London base by the villain played by Julianne Moore. With a cast that also includes Halle Berry, Mark Strong, Channing Tatum, and Vinnie Jones — who’s also been tweeting out behind-the-scenes photos and videos from his dressing room — the film seems primed to build upon the wild, brutal craziness that made the first Kingsman a $414 million-grossing global smash.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle debuts in theaters on June 16, 2017.
