Diego Luna Says Young Son Used 'Rogue One' Secrets to Talk to Girls
You have to imagine every actor involved in a top-secret project like a Star Wars movie has an inner circle of trust, people with whom they can confide in and share no one can else can know. Rogue One star Diego Luna’s circle, surprisingly, included his 8-year-old son, Jerónimo, and 6-year-old daughter, Fiona.
And if that sounds risky, Luna found out the hard way.
The 36-year-old Mexican actor, who plays Rebel intelligence officer Captain Cassian Andor, recalled being at a beachside pool with his kids during the filming of Rogue One. “My son was swimming, and then I lost him,” Luna told us at the film’s San Francisco junket (watch above). “And I go, ‘Where is he, where is he?’ And then I see like four 16-year-old girls. This guy is 8. And he’s talking to them.

“And I go, ‘I’m just going to swim [over] because this sounds a little fishy. And I start swimming by and just listen [to him say], ‘Well, this film has no Jedis. It’s just rebels.’ And I go, ‘Oh my God.'”
Jerónimo’s loose lips may have been threatening to bring down starships, as J.J. Abrams would put it, but after some initial dismay, Luna was a proud papa. “He did it for the right reason, right? He was talking to girls and he got their attention.
“So I had to talk to him later to say, ‘You cannot tell people [spoilers] until they see the trailer that we are rebels. People don’t know we’re rebels…’ But then I wanted to say, ‘But that was a good move. And you wait another eight years, you might be ready.'”
Rogue One opens Dec. 16.
