'Ghostbusters' Delivers More Action in New Japanese Trailer

Ghostbusters has had well-publicized battles with internet adversaries who don’t like the fact its heroes are now played by — gasp! — women. Well, those naysayers had better monitor their blood pressure today, because there’s a new trailer for them to grapple with, this one made for Japan (watch it above).

This international teaser for Paul Feig’s all-star comedy unveils more action scenes, showing the squad — Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones — using their homegrown tools vs. the evil forces of the undead. While one scene indicates that, at least initially, their proton packs may need some fine-tuning, this latest look strikes a solid balance between combat-oriented craziness and punchline-y drollness, even as it steers clear of any new plot revelations.

Anyone who’s already made up their mind about this rebooted Ghostbusters won’t have their opinions changed by this trailer, which runs just over a minute. But it continues to suggest that Feig’s film will be the comedy to beat at the summer box office — this despite the vocal outcry from certain corners of the online population, which Feig has recently fought back against, dubbing it “some of the worst misogynistic stuff,” with support from producer Judd Apatow.
