Guillermo del Toro on the Future of 'Hellboy 3' and His New Movie 'Crimson Peak'
Director Guillermo del Toro spent eight years developing his new Gothic horror film Crimson Peak (in theaters Oct. 16). He’s also spent quite a few years working on other yet-to-be-produced passion projects — including an adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s At the Mountains of Madness and a third Hellboy movie. At San Diego Comic-Con, Yahoo Movies talked to del Toro about a few of these abandoned and postponed films…though the director wasn’t always happy to dwell on the subject, at one point joking with host Khail Anonymous, “Are you sponsored by some anti-depressant?” Watch the video above!
Over the course of the conversation, del Toro touches on At the Mountains of Madness and his abandoned contribution to the Silent Hill video game horror franchise. He also talks about Hellboy 3, a movie that Ron Perlman (who plays the title character) has been on “a crusade” — in del Toro’s words — to get made.
“It would be amazing to do the [Hellboy 3] screenplay we talked about. And we better do it quick,” jokes the director. “Ron is no spring chicken, and soon enough he’s going to be Hellboy in a Barcalounger, changing channels, ordering from shopping networks.”
