Matt Damon's Back in New 'Jason Bourne' Trailer: 'I Remember Everything'

Ethan AlterSenior Writer, Yahoo Entertainment

Just when Jason Bourne thought he was out, they pull him back in. Nine years after the events of The Bourne Ultimatum restored the amnesiac superspy’s memory and sent him off to a well-deserved retirement, Bourne and his off-screen alter ego, Matt Damon, are back in the thick of international intrigue and heavy-duty action sequences. And as the just-released trailer (watch it above) for the Paul Greengrass-directed Jason Bourne indicates, both the star and his director are returning to this franchise without missing a step.

Since surviving his plunge into New York City’s East River, Bourne has been living off the grid, a man without a country and a spy without a mission. But he’s given a new purpose when his Treadstone contact, Nicky Parsons (Julia Stiles), tracks him down and indicates there’s another level to the CIA-backed operations that birthed him.

But the face of the Agency has changed in the years that Bourne has been inactive; Tommy Lee Jones is now heading up the CIA, and his colleagues include newly minted Oscar winner Alicia Vikander and Riz Ahmed. What hasn’t changed is Bourne’s appetite for destruction, which includes plenty of close-quarters combat — one opponent is French actor Vincent Cassel, who plays the latest assassin to tangle with Bourne. We also get a taste of an epic Las Vegas car chase that shut down portions of Sin City’s famous Strip. Like fine wine, Jason Bourne only seems to grow better with age.
