Here's a New Photo of Michael Fassbender as Steve Jobs, '90s-Style

Evidently, Danny Boyle isn’t all too concerned with making Steve Jobs look like … Steve Jobs.
The 127 Hours director is in the midst of filming Steve Jobs, his biopic of the famed Apple honcho, starring Michael Fassbender in the title role. But a new picture of Fassbender in character was posted late Monday night to Reddit, and it’s clear no one will be confusing the Oscar-nominated actor for the iGodfather anytime soon.

The shot finds Fassbender-as-Jobs recreating the famous ads for NeXT, the computer company that Jobs founded following his ouster from Apple in 1985. The NeXT computers were the next step in Jobs’ quest to make personal computers for home users, and its revolutionary hardware-software combination hosted the first-ever internet server. In 1996, the company was ultimately acquired by Apple, which brought Jobs back to the company.
The movie version of the ad is pretty darn accurate, except for one thing: Jobs himself.

Fassbender, it must be said, isn’t exactly a dead-ringer for the late Apple founder — especially when he’s got an entirely different hairstyle (or hairstyles). And, the costume and hair and makeup departments don’t seem to be under any duress to re-create every little detail of Jobs’ wardrobe and personal style.
Then again, there’s already been a Steve Jobs biopic with an actor who looked just like him, and very few people were lining up to praise Ashton Kutcher’s Jobs.
Boyle’s film, which co-stars Seth Rogen and Kate Winslet, hits theaters in 2016.
