Naomie Harris has had Miss Moneypenny spin-off talks with James Bond producers

While the James Bond franchise can't claim to have had any spin-offs so far in its long history, Oscar-winner Barry Jenkins wants to change that with a Miss Moneypenny-focussed off-shoot, according to Naomie Harris.

Harris, 43, who worked with Jenkins on the Academy Award-winning Moonlight, says she has shared conversations with the director about a possible spin-off for her incarnation of the character - introduced in 2012’s Skyfall - adding that she has even taken the idea to the producers of the James Bond films.

During an appearance on Good Morning America this week, she said: "[Barry Jenkins has] wanted to do a bad ass, kick-ass kind of action thing with Moneypenny which I’m all for actually.

“I got together with Barbara Broccoli, our producer, and I was like let’s make this happen but she wasn’t so down with it," Harris continued. "But the door’s not entirely shut it seems."

“The conversation has started at least and we’re continuing it here so who knows”.

Harris was directed by Jenkins in Moonlight where she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Paula.

She debuted as Eve Moneypenny in 2012 James Bond film Skyfall, making her the sixth actress to take on the part after Lois Maxwell, Barbara Bouchet, Pamela Salem, Caroline Bliss, and Samantha Bond.

She went on to reprise the part in Spectre in 2015 and will once again be starring as the character when No Time To Die hits cinema screens next year.

The actress has already teased that fans can expect "massive surprises" from the upcoming instalment, which she's said shocked even her.

The picture will be Daniel Craig's last outing as James Bond after 15 years in the role. His replacement is yet to be announced.
