Rooney Mara to Play a Pop Star in Drama 'Vox Lux' With Original Music From Sia
Rooney Mara is attached to star in Brady Corbet’s pop star drama Vox Lux.
The soundtrack will boast all original songs written by Grammy-nominated, multiplatinum-selling artist Sia.
This is the follow-up to Corbet’s Venice double award winner, The Childhood of a Leader.
Additionally, the film will be shot on 65mm large format film and exhibit on 70mm large format film. Kodak is helping to back the movie from an equity and marketing perspective.
As previously announced, Christine Vachon and David Hinojosa of Killer Films will produce along with Brian Young of Three Six Zero Entertainment.
Vox Lux follows the rise of ‘Celeste’ from the ashes of a major national tragedy to pop superstardom. This 15-year odyssey, set between 1999 and the present day, tracks the important cultural evolutions of the 21st Century via her gaze.
Mara is coming off the Telluride and Toronto Film Festivals where her movies Una and The Weinstein Company’s Lion played.
Three Six Zero is an international entertainment company that specializes in music, film, television, digital media and technology. They represent a number of high profile musicians, actors, directors and writers.
Shooting will begin in February 2017. Mara is represented by WME and Management 360; WME Global is representing the film’s worldwide rights.
