'Suicide Squad' Trailer Introduces 'Worst of the Worst'
Worst. Heroes. Ever. That’s how director David Ayers characterized the dysfunctional band of baddies comprising Suicide Squad. And the Squaddies particular brand of, um, heroism is on display in the first trailer for the DC-based film.
The clip, debuted Tuesday during The CW’s Kevin Smith-hosted special, DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League, is set to the tune of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” and offers a quick overview of the film’s premise. Let’s let shadowy government operative Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) explain: “I want to assemble a task force of the most dangerous people on the planet.”
The inveterate troublemakers — Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Deadshot (Will Smith), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), El Diablo (Jay Hernandez), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Slipknot (Adam Beach), and Katana (Karen Fukuhara) — have been locked deep in the bowels of Belle Reve, an off-the-grid, ultra-max prison.

Now, under the leadership of Waller and field commander Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), the so-called Task Force X is tapped to do the dirty work the feds can’t.
“This is the deal,” says Flag. “You’re going somewhere very bad to do something that will get you killed.”
We’re not exactly sure what that entails, but it involves lots of ammo, explosions, and one-liners. And if the miscreants fail? Well, no one cares. The beauty is, they’re the ultimate expendables.
We almost forgot — also along for the party: the Joker (Jared Leto). And he brought some favors. “I can’t wait to show you my toys,” he oozes.
This is the first new footage we’ve seen from the eagerly awaited film since a tantalizing Comic-Con teaser introduced the supervillain crew last summer.

Aside from unveiling the Suicide Squad trailer, DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League showed off footage from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (coming March 25) familiar to anyone who has seen the trailers, as well as a glimpse of some of the future comic-based films in the pipeline, including a first look at Wonder Woman.
The special capped a day of DC tub-thumping that included the reveal of Squad character posters via Ayer’s Twitter feed, the announcement that the stand-alone Wonder Woman movie (slated for June 23, 2017) has begun shooting along with the film’s logo debut, and the first look at concept art for the cinematic version of the Justice League, which will come together for the first time on the big screen in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
