'The Founder' Trailer: Michael Keaton as Ray Kroc Sinks His Teeth Into McDonald’s
Back in 1992, Michael Keaton’s likeness was used for a McDonald’s toy as part of a promotional push for Batman Returns–a campaign that Returns director Tim Burton said misfired spectacularly. Two decades later, the former Batman is getting the last laugh by playing Ray Kroc, the man who transformed a sleepy California burger joint into a revolutionary global fast-food chain. That’s the story told in The Founder, Keaton’s next bid for Oscar glory. Directed by The Blind Side’s John Lee Hancock and written by The Wrestler’s Robert D. Siegel, The Founder explores how a “52-year-old over the hill milkshake machine salesman” made McDonald’s golden arches into pure gold.

Flanking Keaton in this biopic is an impressive supporting cast that includes Laura Dern as Kroc’s first wife, Ethel; Nick Offerman (sans his Ron Swanson mustache) and John Carroll Lynch as the McDonald brothers; and B.J. Novak as the first president of the young McDonald’s corporation, Harry J. Sonneborn. We can’t wait to collect all of The Founder Happy Meal toys this August.
