'Trainwreck' Fact-Check! Amy Schumer and Vanessa Bayer Take Our True or False Test
Amy Schumer plays a hard-hitting New York City magazine journalist in the hit romantic comedy Trainwreck. (Go here to read some of her classy headlines!) Since her character is so dedicated to the awful truth, we thought we’d put Schumer and her costar Vanessa Bayer through their fact-checking paces, as we run through some of the plot points in Trainwreck and find out which ones are true-to-life and which ones are totally bogus.
First up: Did Schumer really date a sensitive bodybuilder like costar John Cena? (Sort of true: She once dated a WWE wrestler.) Has she dated a sports doctor? (Also sort of true: She dated a regular doctor — albeit one who wasn’t as good-looking as his on-screen doppelgänger; as Schumer notes, ”No one’s as handsome as Bill Hader.”)
Among the falsehoods in the movie: Schumer doesn’t actually think “Uptown Girl” is Billy Joel’s worst song. ”No, I think he has other really bad songs too,” she says. And contrary to what her character says, Schumer loves to spoon. As she tells our interviewer: “It’s killing me that we’re not spooning now.”
