Twitter-Happy Jeremy Renner Reveals New Hawkeye Costume, New Teammates for 'Captain America: Civil War'
He might not be the most powerful Avenger, but Hawkeye has got some supreme sartorial skills. He’s also dropping some big Captain America: Civil War spoilers.
The hero’s alter ego, Jeremy Renner, took to Twitter Thursday to reveal the new-look costume the ace archer will be sporting in Marvel’s upcoming super showdown that finds the members of the Avengers on opposing sides.
The costume is closer in color scheme to the current Marvel comic-book version:
For comparison, here’s what his Avengers: Age of Ultron wardrobe looked like:
As teased by Renner and revealed in more detail in a lengthy sizzle clip at the Disney’s D23 expo earlier this month, Hawkeye and Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) — along with Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Falcon (Anthony Mackie), and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) — side with Captain America (Chris Evans) in his dispute with Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) over superhero civil liberties. Iron Man’s team includes War Machine (Don Cheadle), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and the Vision (Paul Bettany). While there was no official word on which faction newcomers Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and Spider-Man (Tom Holland) join, Renner tweeted art that reveals Panther on Team Iron Man. The images show new armor for Iron Man and War Machine and have Sharon Carter/Agent 13 (Emily VanCamp) standing with Cap. If you look closely you can also see Falcon’s trusty “pet” Redwing, which in the movie version is a drone instead of a real raptor.
The film, which wrapped shooting in Germany last Friday, arrives in theaters May 6, 2016.
