Watch Tom Cruise’s Most Dangerous ‘Mission: Impossible’ Stunts
Scaling the world’s tallest building, clinging to the side of a flying plane, dangling hundreds of feet from a cliff — it’s all in a day’s work for Tom Cruise. The star has always been passionate about doing his own stunts, and the Mission: Impossible films in particular have become known for featuring Cruise’s death-defying feats. In this video, Yahoo Movies highlights the actor’s most daring stunts from all five M:I movies, including the upcoming Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation (in theaters July 31). Watch it above!
For his latest outing as secret agent Ethan Hunt, Cruise set out to top his astounding stunt from 2011’s Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol when he dangled from the side of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. He accomplished this by strapping himself to the side of a plane as it took to the air, wearing specially-made contact lenses to protect his eyes from debris. “It’s the most dangerous thing I’ve ever done, to be honest,” Cruise told Yahoo Movies. “Outside the airplane, there’s so many factors. Just too many things can happen. You don’t want to do it. Once we had it, [I said], ‘We’re not doing it anymore!’” But the actor wasn’t content to leave it at that: Rogue Nation also contains a high-speed, helmet-less motorbike chase and an underwater scene that involved Cruise holding his breath for six minutes. Like we said, all in a day’s work.
