BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — One person is dead and another was severely injured early Sunday morning after a vehicle lost control and crashed into the end of a median on I-190 in Buffalo, New York State Police announced.

Police said officers responded around 2:10 a.m. to southbound I-190 near the Niagara Street exit for a one-vehicle crash.

An investigation determined that a Nissan Altima was traveling on I-190 at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control and crashed into the end of the Exit 8 deceleration ramp median, according to police.

Police said the driver, 20-year-old Damaree M. Lattimore of Hamburg, was declared deceased at the scene, and his body was taken to ECMC for an autopsy. A 19-year-old passenger, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle and sustained severe injuries. There was no immediate update on the passenger’s condition.

An investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
