1 hospitalized after cement truck rollover crash in Amherst
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Niagara Falls man driving a cement truck was hospitalized with minor injuries after a motor vehicle accident with a passenger vehicle Wednesday morning, the Amherst Police Department announced.
Officials said a Chevy Impala, driven by an 80-year-old woman of North Tonawanda, was heading eastbound on North French Road approaching Millersport Highway when the cement truck, driving eastbound behind the Chevy, rear-ended it.
The cement truck swerved to the right and rolled onto its driver’s side before stopping, according to officials. The driver of the cement truck, a 59-year-old man, was extricated from the vehicle and taken to ECMC by ambulance.
Officials said one driver and one passenger occupied the Chevy and neither reported any injuries at the scene.
The crash is currently under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time, police said.
Witnesses to the crash and drivers who may have dash camera footage of the accident are asked to contact the APD at (716) 689-1311.
