1 seriously injured after motorcycle crash on Route 5 in Hamburg

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A motorcycle crash on Route 5 left a West Seneca man seriously injured Monday afternoon after he was struck by oncoming traffic, according to Town of Hamburg Police.

Police said around 1:25 p.m. on Monday, 28-year-old Ryan Czekaj lost control of his motorcycle as he drove eastbound on Route 5 near Lakewood Drive. After reacting to another vehicle, Czekaj entered the westbound lane and was struck by oncoming traffic, according to police.

Route 5 was closed for an investigation for several hours.

Czekaj suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to ECMC where he remains hospitalized. Anyone with information is asked to contact Lieutenant Joshua Eagan at (716) 648-5111 ext. 2630.
