As summer comes to a close (*tear*), a certain daring one-piece has emerged as the “it” swimsuit of the season — and it’s not a high-priced designer piece. American Apparel’s Nylon Tricot High-Cut One-Piece (say that three times fast!) has been worn poolside, oceanside, and beyond by the likes of Selena Gomez (in Miami), Emily Ratajkowski (in Malibu), Khloé Kardashian (in Mexico), and both Kendall and Kylie Jenner (in St. Barts and Mexico, respectively).

The black swimsuit is dripping in sex appeal, with its plunging back, revealingly open sides, and sky-high thigh openings. The va-va-voom number is designed to accentuate the hourglass shape of anyone who rocks it, and at $45, just about anyone can rock it.

On its website, American Apparel describes the one-piece as fitting “true to size with superior water-wicking lining.” Though black seems to be the preferred color among the celeb set — and among the brand’s clientele in general, as size medium is sold out at the time of this article’s publication — the coveted suit comes in white too.

The summer has proved that the one-piece is back in a big way, and the right cut can give off an even sexier vibe than a bikini. In August, we saw Rihanna work a high-cut, canary-yellow suit complete with jewelry, shades, and a pink baseball cap. And back in July, Lady Gaga stunned in a pastel-pink one-piece that showed off her incredibly toned, curvy figure.

Just last month, we christened 2016 the year of the one-piece swimsuit, pointing to Taylor Swift’s patriotic swimwear in her now-famous July Fourth Instagram shoot, Kim Kardashian’s swimsuit selfie (we spy the American Apparel number in her shot), Chrissy Teigen’s Fawcett-esque red suit, and Queen Bey herself, who modeled a black-and-white one-piece from her Ivy Park collection on Instagram.

Eager to jump on the one-piece bandwagon? You still have time! As far as we know, there’s no rule about wearing swimsuits after Labor Day.
