13-year-old in critical condition after seemingly being hit by a vehicle in Cattaraugus County
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A 13-year-old boy is in critical condition after evidence indicates he was hit by a vehicle while riding a bicycle on State Route 62 in Cattaraugus County, New York State Police announced.
Just before 2:10 a.m. Tuesday, troopers responded to a 13-year-old male possibly being struck by a vehicle in the Town of Persia. His family had not been able to reach him by phone after he had failed to return home, police said. At 11 p.m. on Monday, troopers assisted the family in attempting to find him.
The boy was located on the side of the road on Route 62 with evidence and debris indicating he was struck by a vehicle that had left the scene, according to police. He was Mercy Flighted to Oishei Children’s Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
