2 juveniles accused of breaking into vehicles arrested, Baton Rouge police say

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Baton Rouge Police Department arrested two juvenile suspects accused of breaking into vehicles.

Officers responded to the 1600 block of East Walker Court about a report of armed suspects breaking into vehicles around 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 31. They found the suspects a short distance away and deployed a department-issued drone.

Police said the two suspects started to flee after officers approached them in the 1300 block of North Sherwood Forest Drive but the drone was able to locate them.

The drone also helped officers find two handguns, one of which was stolen.

Two male juveniles were arrested and booked into the juvenile detention center, according to police.

BRPD said the first male juvenile was charged with four counts of attempted simple burglary, illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile, resisting an officer, illegal possession of stolen firearms, simple possession of marijuana and manufacture, transfer or possession of machine guns.

Police said the second male juvenile was charged with four counts of attempted simple burglary, illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile and resisting an officer.
