20-year-old killed in motorcycle crash in Genesee County

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Rochester man was killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday in the Town of Stafford, the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Officials said just after 5:30 p.m., dispatch received a call reporting a personal injury accident in the area of 6496 Route 33.

Upon arrival, officers saw that a Yamaha motorcycle, operated by 20-year-old Michael Ciarpelli, collided head on with a Ford Edge, operated by 76-year-old Luanne Andrews of West Henrietta. 67-year-old Colleen O’Mara, also of West Henrietta, was a passenger in the Ford.

According to the sheriff’s office, Ciarpelli was traveling westbound on Route 33 when he tried to pass two vehicles in front of him. Andrews was making a left turn off of Griswold Road and started traveling east on Route 33. Ciarpelli then tried to pass the vehicles and collided with the Ford head on in the eastbound lane, officials said.

Ciarpelli was ejected from the motorcycle onto the north shoulder of Route 33, police said. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash currently remains under investigation.
