According to New Orleans criminal court, 27-year-old Khutbi Abdelkader allegedly cut off his ankle monitor ahead of his court hearing on Thursday. However, the court has since reported that he ended up appearing for his hearing alongside his attorney.
Abdelkader is a suspect in a May 5, 2021, homicide in which a man was shot and killed in the 900 block of Canal Street. On May 10, 2021, he was arrested and booked into the Orleans Justice Center on a charge of second-degree but bailed out on a $350,000 bond.
A look into Abdelkader’s criminal background shows he was later arrested in 2023 on charges of being possession of a firearm and injuring public records of the first degree.
