When is the presidential election? Decision day 2024 is fast approaching

The candidates for this year's White House race are almost official. In July, the Republicans nominated former President Donald Trump and Sen. JD Vance of Ohio. Later this week, the Democrats are expected to confirm Vice President Kamala Harris and Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota at the convention in Chicago.

With less than 80 days until Election Day, U.S. voters will soon prepare to cast their ballots in person or by mail in the next eleven weeks.

How can I vote?

Options on how to vote vary by state. Some offer forms of early voting or voting by mail. Others have ways of voting absentee. Polls will be open at varying times on a state-by-state basis.

What else is being voted on?

Along with the presidency, all 435 members of the U.S. House of Representatives are up for re-election, and 34 of the 100 seats in the U.S. Senate are up for election.
