3 women approached by alleged sex abuser at Tigard park; police seek more victims
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Community members in Tigard are shaken after police say there may be more victims of a man accused of sex abuse at a park.
The Tigard Police Department arrested 29-year-old Tualatin resident Jhonatan Temprana-Olivares after he allegedly approached three different women — and grabbed one of them — along a trail at Cook Family Park on Monday.

The trail where all three incidents happened is near the volleyball court and connects the park to the neighborhoods on Tualatin Road.
The first incident reportedly happened at 7:30 a.m. while a woman was running on the trail. She passed a man who was approaching her. After hearing a noise, she turned around and found the man — later identified as Temprana-Olivares — standing directly behind her, police said. The woman pushed the man away and yelled, and he asked her for the time.
A second woman reported being assaulted by a man she did not know in the same area at 12:30 p.m. She said the man came up behind her, grabbed her rear end with both hands and ran away. The woman had seen him run into the woods.
Police responded, checked those woods and quickly found and arrested Temprana-Olivares.

The next day, a third woman called to report a similar incident the day before. She was out walking her dog at 8:30 a.m. Monday when a man matching the description of Temprana-Olivares allegedly asked for the time and started petting her dog. Though the woman tried to walk away, the man reportedly followed directly behind her, said “You’re very handsome” and asked if she was single. The woman yelled and went toward the closest neighborhood.
Temprana-Olivares is in jail now and faces charges of third-degree sex abuse and harassment. However, police have released his photo to try and find out if there are any more victims.
“We don’t know if there are any other victims but that’s why we want to share this information, just in case anyone else was approached and had kind of a strange interaction, something that we want to know about,” said Kelsey Anderson, a Tigard police spokesperson.
Area resident Peggy Collins was at the park with her grandkids earlier Wednesday. She told KOIN 6 News learning about these incidents is not only scary for the little ones but for any woman who may be by themselves.

“It’s just not right,” Collins said. “You just have to be really aware of your surroundings.”
Anyone who has had a similar encounter with the suspect is encouraged to call Tigard police.
