35-year-old hospitalized with gunshot wound after East Akron shooting Thursday
A 35-year-old man was hospitalized with a gunshot wound Thursday morning after shooting in East Akron, according to Akron police.
Officers were responding to another incident on Fuller Street at about 4:37 a.m. when they were notified of a shooting victim at a residence in the 400 block of Weeks Street. Upon arrival, police found the victim had been shot in the neck. The man was transported to a local hospital with what police say is a non-life threatening injury.
Police believe unknown suspects came up to the home on Weeks Street and began shooting. There was an exchange of gunfire that resulted in the victim being struck, police said. Officials reported a nearby home and a car were hit by gunfire as well. No additional injuries were reported. Shell casings and other evidence were also found at the scene.
