4 arrests, including a minor, made in connection with Bird Avenue shooting
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Buffalo Police Department announced Tuesday that four people were arrested, including a minor, in connection with a shooting on the 200 block of Bird Avenue.
Officers responded to a shooting call around 1:30 p.m. Saturday and found a victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on Bird Avenue. 21-year-old Kabah Kabah of Buffalo was treated on scene before being transported to ECMC where he was declared deceased.
A vehicle matching the description of a vehicle that fled the scene was observed by officers in the area, according to officials. Officers said they attempted to pull over the vehicle, but the driver refused to pull over and instead traveled on the 33 to the Skyway from Church Street.
As it drove over the Skyway, several items were allegedly thrown from the vehicle. Two weapons, a Glock 19 with a loaded magazine and a loaded Springfield Armory Hellcat, were later recovered at the base of the Skyway, officials said.
The vehicle stopped and occupants fled near Tifft Street and Fuhrmann Boulevard, officials said. The four occupants of the vehicle were apprehended.
21-year-old Mekhi Harwell, 22-year-old Keith Jackson-Martin, 38-year-old Edward Harwell, and a 17-year-old boy were charged identically with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
The investigation remains ongoing and further charges are expected.
