4 rooftop bars and restaurants in Victor, Canandaigua to check out before summer ends
Awhile back, someone posted a question on X, the social media service that used to be called Twitter. The person was looking for a place to eat or drink outdoors on a rooftop in the Rochester area. I knew of a few from memory and started scouting for more.
I found 8 in the Rochester area, with two more works. In addition, I realized there's a concentration of rooftop eateries in Ontario County ― three in Canandaigua, and another right up the road in Victor.
Here are some idyllic rooftop spaces to take in what remains of summer.
Nick's Chophouse, Canandaigua
Skydeck, the casual restaurant on the rooftop of Nick’s Chophouse, may well be the tallest in the area, perched four stories above downtown Canandaigua’s Main and Beeman streets. The menu includes tacos, salads, sandwiches, burgers and wraps. Tropical drinks are a specialty.
Weather permitting, it is open 4 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 4 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Skydeck doesn't accept reservations.

KiX on Main, Canandaigua
Earlier this year, KiX on Main unveiled renovations to its rooftop deck, which seats 38 and offers views of Canandaigua's Main Street. It is now covered and the air flow and sunlight can be controlled via remote.
Sip a lavender mule or a PB & J Old Fashioned as you nosh on sharable appetizers and sides, as well as salads, sandwiches and entrées. KiX on Main accepts reservations online, and you can specify a rooftop table.

New York Kitchen, Canandaigua
The Café at New York Kitchen has a second floor outdoor patio that offers glimpses of Canandaigua Lake; some areas are covered by an awning. The menu, which emphasizes New York state produce and products, includes appetizers, pizzas, salads and sandwiches; entrées are served after 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Sunday brunch is also offered.
It is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday; 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday. It is closed Tuesday. Reserve a rooftop table by calling (585) 394-7070 Ext 111.

New York Beer Project, Victor
The cavernous New York Beer Project, in the High Point development in Victor, has a rooftop terrace tucked in the rear of the building. It's directly across the street from Eastview Mall.
If you walk in the front door and head upstairs, the terrace is located outside on the far side of the loft. It is open 5 to 9-ish every night of the week, unless there's inclement weather or an event upstairs. The host will seat you, and it has table service.
New York Beer Project serves its own beers as well as craft cocktails and casual fare. Reservations are not accepted.
