I-470 bridge in west Topeka is closed until December
TOPEKA (KSNT) – A bridge is being replaced in west Topeka and is closed until December.
According to the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT), the northbound I-470 bridge to westbound I-70 is now closed for reconstruction. Motorists are encouraged to take eastbound I-70 and Southwest Wanamaker Road or use other routes.
Demolition of the existing I-470 bridge deck will require a full closure on I-70 for one weekend in the coming weeks, according to KDOT. Temporary lane reductions on I-70 are likely to occur during the construction process.
I-470 is expected to be closed for the replacement project until early December, conditions permitting. A.M. Cohron & Son, Inc., of Atlantic, Iowa, is the prime contractor for the $7.7 million project.
