54-year-old Buffalo woman arrested after alleged bank robbery in Cheektowaga
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo woman was arrested and charged Monday after being accused of robbing a bank in Cheektowaga, police announced.
Officers were called to M&T Bank at the Thruway Plaza just before 10 a.m. Monday where officials said the woman, identified as 54-year-old Lavita Burnett, approached the counter and allegedly passed a note to the person behind the counter to “hand over cash.” She received over $1,000 in cash.
Authorities said Burnett threatened the person with a weapon, but didn’t have one.
The money handed over to Burnett had a tracker in it, which led police to a market in Buffalo where she was arrested and charged with third-degree robbery. She was remanded to the Erie County Holding Center to await trial.
