61-year-old Buffalo man accused of selling 3 stolen cars
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A 61-year-old Buffalo man was arrested and charged Monday in connection with three stolen cars that were allegedly sold to be destroyed, the Buffalo Police Department announced.
Police said they responded to a burglary call on the 600 block of E. Delavan Avenue around 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Three vehicles had been taken from a garage on three separate days.
An investigation found that 61-year-old Phillip Jackson allegedly broke into the garage and unlawfully towed away a Mercedes CLS 500, a Buick Regal and a Chevrolet SSR. The vehicles were taken on Oct. 14, Oct. 16 and Oct. 17 respectively.
Jackson is accused of bringing the three vehicles to a dismantle company, claiming to be the lawful owner, and selling them to be destroyed, according to police. He was identified and apprehended without incident.
Jackson was charged with the following:
one count, second-degree grand larceny
one count, third-degree burglary
three counts, making a punishable false written statement
