7-year-old struck, killed by school bus in Terrebonne Parish

TERREBONNE PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A child is dead following a crash on a Terrebonne Parish highway, according to the Louisiana State Police.

Troopers report that around 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22, they responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 500 block of Louisiana Highway 665.

An investigation revealed a Freightliner B2 school bus was headed south on the highway when the driver activated their flashing warning lights before coming to a stop to drop off children, including 7-year-old Jeremiah Falgout.

Former Tangipahoa Parish deputy arrested in connection with child pornography case

Troopers say the bus pulled off, striking Falgout and causing critical injuries.

He was taken to a hospital where he later died.

Troopers added that alcohol was not determined to be a factor as the driver submitted a test that showed no alcohol detected. The driver was also wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and no other injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation.
