6 taken to ECMC after multi-vehicle crash involving NFTA bus in Niagara County

Correction: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated seven people were hospitalized.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Six people were taken to ECMC on Friday after a van crashed into a car, and then into an occupied NFTA bus, the NFTA announced.

Officials said around 1:45 p.m., an NFTA bus was traveling eastbound on Lockport Road near Walmore and Ward Roads in Wheatfield. A sprinter van and a Chevy Cruz were traveling westbound on Lockport.

The van allegedly attempted to pass the Chevy on the right side and crashed into it. The van then spun out into oncoming traffic and hit the bus, officials said.

The driver of the van was ejected from the vehicle and taken to ECMC with serious injuries. Five others were also transported to ECMC, including the bus operator and two bus passengers.

An investigation is ongoing into the crash.
