71-year-old woman killed in Niagara County crash

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A 71-year-old woman was killed and five others were injured in a two-car crash in Niagara County on Sunday afternoon, according to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office.

Police responded to the intersection of Lower Mountain Road and Baer Road in the Town of Cambria around 3:15 p.m. Sunday, where a Ford pickup truck and a Mercury had collided.

Initial investigation showed that the truck was traveling northbound on Baer and ran a stop sign and hit the Mercury, traveling westbound on Lower Mountain. The truck rolled on its side.

The woman, from Niagara Falls, was in the back seat of the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene. She was identified Tuesday as Mary R. Ryan.

In addition, five people, two in the truck and three in the sedan, were transported to ECMC for various injuries. The driver of the sedan was airlifted due to a severe leg injury.

The names of those involved are being withheld pending notification of family. The crash is still under investigation.
